My sister and I were about fifteen the summer we drove to a North Carolina beach with my mom, younger sister, aunt, and cousin. We passed the mornings at the beach, returning about 1:00 to the rented condo for lunch, and cycling back to the beach in the late afternoon.
One late afternoon when we returned we found that the tide had come in and filled in a lower almost gully type area. Thinking that it would be shallow, we started to wade through.
I'm posting over at Internet Cafe today. Please click the button to finish reading this post!

I read this post on Internet Cafe Amy and wanted to tell you that earlier this week in my Bible study God gave me a verse and told me to give it to a fellow blogger. What? A fellow blogger? Yes....oh my goodness. It's not like He gives me verses often for someone else. It's not like that's a normal occurrence in my life. After much hesitation I sent it in an e-mail. It's wasn't my job to decide if she needed a Bible verse or not, it wasn't my job to decide if she needed that particular verse or not, it was just my job to send it. Why do we hesitate to do such a small thing? We worry about being embarrassed or having people think we're crazy! But those are worldly things, not Godly things. :) blessings, marlene
Hi Amy!
This is my first time on your blog! I was at the "Cafe" reading your post and thought I'd stop by here for a visit!
I LOVE your site! I grew up near the beach and have lived near the beach most of my life. I miss it dearly as I'd often go to the beach to "hear God" speak to me. The ocean would often remind me of how very big and powerful God is and how very small and weak I am.
I've often done things like you mentioned in this devotional. I know God's talking to me, but I don't want to b/c I either deem the activity unimportant, don't like the people He's calling me to serve or just plain embarrassed people will think I'm a weirdo.
All in all, it comes down to this: Do I truly believe Galatians 1:10 and 2:20? If so, I ought to live my life daily with eternal perspective, not with a dim earthly one.
Thank you for the devo today! Great reminder and encouragement to keep my heart tender to the voice of God's Holy Spirit over my own whiney voice. :-)
Bless you dear sister,
Sunny
P.S. I LOVE your picture!
Thank you for a great post Amy and one that I can relate with. God spoke to me one morning a week or so ago on the way to work. I forgot about it as I arrived at work and the day's busyiness took over, until, amazingly enough, I sat in church that night at a leadership/volunteer meeting and listened to the university chaplaincy group pastor talk about the exact same thing that I had heard God speak to me about that morning! I have now put the wheels in motion to get this new idea moving, which is to provide chaplaincy support/church referral to students at the tertiary college where I work, and am excited at the possibilities. Thank you again! Paula :-)
Amy, what a great post! It convicts and saddens my heart because I know there have been times in my life too where I have ignored His promptings - always being able to justify why "this time" I have to say 'no'. Oh, how I pray that I would respond in first time obedience to all He asks of me.
Now is the time,
Joy
Amy,
Thanks for the reminder that I need to surrender to the small nudges of God. I was just in Chicago last week - the first time I have been to your great state. I loved it!
What a great example of Esther's Choice. Thanks for sharing it. I think of Esther often when I feel myself giving in to that "it's not my job" mentality we all get some times.
I've been lurking around here awhile and would love to invite you to participate in a blog tour I'm putting on in a few weeks. Here's the AGWP Blog Tour link. I think the topic – “Do what it says” from James 1:22 would be of interest to you and your readers. Check it out of you're interested...hehe but no pressure.
Thanks again for sharing a great pesonal story.
